University of California, Davis Chancellor Gary S. May has announced three leadership appointments at UC Davis Health. The new appointees are Michael Condrin as interim chief executive officer, Bruce Lee Hall as interim vice chancellor of human health sciences, and Susan Murin as the permanent dean of the School of Medicine.
Condrin and Hall will assume their roles on February 15, 2025, reporting directly to Chancellor May. Murin's appointment took effect on January 1, 2025, and will continue until June 30, 2026. She reports to interim Vice Chancellor Hall.
Chancellor May stated, “I’m very pleased to have these strong leaders in place on our Sacramento campus to continue driving forward our strategic goals.” He added that Condrin, Hall, and Murin bring significant experience that will support UC Davis Health's growth in delivering patient care, education, and research.
Michael Condrin is tasked with establishing strategic goals for UC Davis Health as interim CEO. His responsibilities include monitoring financial performance and overseeing hospital operations to ensure high-quality patient care services. Condrin brings over two decades of experience in university healthcare management at the University of California.
Bruce Lee Hall will oversee the strategic direction of UC Davis Health in his role as interim vice chancellor. This includes managing the School of Medicine and Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. Hall joined UC Davis in 2024 after serving at Washington University and BJC HealthCare in St. Louis.
Susan Murin was appointed permanent dean after serving as interim dean since November 2021. Under her leadership, the School achieved full accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. Murin has a long tenure at UC Davis Health with various leadership roles including vice dean for clinical affairs.
The appointments were approved by University of California President Michael V. Drake and the Board of Regents’ Health Services Committee on January 23.
Chancellor May anticipates initiating a national search for some leadership positions later this year as part of finalizing the long-term structure for UC Davis Health leadership.
