On February 4, 2025, Congressman Sherman addressed the impact of democracy on autocratic regimes. He stated, "The biggest threat to autocracies is democracy. If we aren’t supporting democracy, these regimes have little to fear. Their evil will be bolder."
Later that day, Sherman commented on the Trump Administration's decision regarding financial institutions and consumer protection policies. He tweeted, "The Trump Administration has determined that no Financial Institution is even thinking about ripping off Americans, and that Americans are not paying exorbitant overdraft fees. Therefore, they have ordered that all work at the #CFPB be halted immediately."
