Rep. Norma Torres, who represents California's 35th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of tweets criticizing various actions and policies of the Republican party and President Elon Musk. These posts address concerns about fiscal responsibility, national security, and government spending priorities.

On February 12, 2025, Rep. Torres commented on the Republican budget proposal, stating that "The Republican budget isn’t about 'fiscal responsibility'—it’s about rigging the system for the wealthy." She accused Republicans of planning cuts to Medicare, Social Security, and public schools while providing substantial financial benefits to their donors.

Later that day, she addressed the cancellation of a National Security subcommittee hearing by Republicans. According to her post from February 12, 2025, "Republicans canceled the first National Security subcommittee hearing of the year to dodge accountability for President @elonmusk dismantling USAID." She criticized this action as undermining U.S. security by slashing crucial programs.

In a tweet posted on February 13, 2025, Rep. Torres questioned government spending under President Musk's administration: "Why does the government need armored Teslas?" She referenced recent promises made at a press conference regarding anti-corruption efforts with "common sense," suggesting these actions prioritize Musk's interests over public commitments.
