California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced the filing of felony charges against Zachary Scrivner, a former Kern County Supervisor. The California Department of Justice conducted an investigation that led to Scrivner being charged with three felony counts under Penal Code section 273a, subdivision (a), for alleged child abuse, and two felony counts under Penal Code section 30605, subdivision (a), for alleged possession of assault weapons. These charges have been filed in the Kern County Superior Court.

Attorney General Bonta stated, "No one is above the law. At the California Department of Justice, we will continue to fight for the people of California and hold those who break the law accountable."

It is crucial to remember that criminal charges are only allegations at this stage. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
