Rep. Norma Torres highlights community initiatives with youth advisory committee

Rep. Norma Torres, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 35th district, recently shared updates on her Twitter account regarding various community and educational initiatives. Torres has been an active political figure since replacing Gloria Negrete McLeod in 2015 and previously served in the California State Assembly and Senate.

On March 19, 2025, Rep. Torres highlighted a visit by her Youth Advisory Committee to the Carpenter’s Union Ontario Training Site. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided to students to explore career opportunities in skilled trades, stating: "My Youth Advisory Committee had an incredible tour of the Carpenter’s Union Ontario Training Site! Students explored career opportunities in the skilled trades and got a hands-on look at the industry's future."

Later that day, Torres congratulated Chief Rich Randolph on his new role as Chief of the Fontana School Police Department. In her message dated March 19, 2025, she remarked: "Congratulations to Chief Rich Randolph on being sworn in as the new Chief of the Fontana School Police Department! I’m excited to see how your leadership will contribute to creating a secure and supportive environment for all of our @FontanaUnified students and teachers."

On March 20, 2025, Torres shared another update about her Youth Advisory Committee's engagement with leaders from the affordable housing sector. She acknowledged National CORE and Bill Velto for their efforts: "The Youth Advisory Committee had an incredible opportunity to learn from inspiring leaders in the affordable housing sector. A heartfelt thank you to National CORE for their dedication to providing quality, affordable housing, and to Bill Velto, President of MGR Real Estate."
