On April 23, 2025, Bera mentioned John Green's book, "In Everything is Tuberculosis, John tells the story of Henry, a young TB patient he met in Sierra Leone, and highlights how this preventable disease still claims 1.5 million lives each year. I’m grateful he shared a copy of his book and for using his platform to call attention to" the issue.

In another tweet on the same day, Bera expressed his gratitude, "It was a pleasure welcoming @johngreen to my office to talk about our shared commitment to ending tuberculosis—one of the world’s deadliest, yet curable, infectious diseases."

Further emphasizing his commitment, Bera stated, "As a doctor and former public health official, I know we have the tools to end TB—we just need the will to act. I’ve led the End Tuberculosis Now Act in previous Congresses and plan to reintroduce it this Congress. The bill reaffirms the United States’ commitment to ending TB".

Since beginning his service in Congress in 2013, Bera, who was born in Los Angeles in 1965 and currently resides in Elk Grove, has continuously advocated for healthcare reform, leveraging his background as a public health official and his education from the University of California, Irvine.
