State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond has revealed the 31 schools recognized as Model Continuation High Schools for 2024. These schools were acknowledged for their commitment to providing comprehensive services to at-risk youth through exemplary instructional strategies, flexible scheduling, and guidance and counseling services.

Superintendent Thurmond commended the schools, stating, "Congratulations to these outstanding schools for their all-around excellence as alternative centers of learning." He emphasized the importance of educators at Model Continuation High Schools in developing relationships with students to foster a positive and personalized learning environment, preparing them for the future.

The Model Continuation High School Recognition Program is a collaborative effort between the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Continuation Education Association Plus (CCEA Plus). These recognized schools not only excel in providing exceptional opportunities for their students but also commit to supporting and mentoring their peers in other local educational agencies.

These 31 schools will maintain their designation as Model Continuation High Schools for the next three years and will be honored at the CCEA Plus 2024 State Conference. With over 430 continuation high schools catering to nearly 51,000 students in the state, these Model Continuation High Schools stand out for their dedication to academic and social success.
