California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., has released the latest Report of Registration, reflecting data as of September 6, 2024. The report shows a record total of 22,310,352 eligible Californians registered to vote, an increase of 1,070,116 from the same point in the presidential election cycle four years ago.
The full September 6, 2024, Report of Registration is available online at sos.ca.gov/elections/report-registration/60day-gen-2024. Californians can register to vote or update their voter registration at registertovote.ca.gov and check their voter registration status at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.
The Report of Registration compiles voter registration numbers reported by California’s 58 county elections offices. It includes voter registration by political party, county, city, congressional district, state senate district, state assembly district, state board of equalization district, county supervisorial district, and political subdivision. It also provides statewide voter registration by age group and county and historical comparisons to previous 60-Day reports of registration. Additionally, it details voter registration by political bodies attempting to qualify as political parties (by county).
According to the report:
- The Democratic Party has 10,279,189 registered voters (46.07%), down from 9,859,577 (46.42%) in 2020.
- The Republican Party has 5,534,782 registered voters (24.81%), up from 5,132,076 (24.16%) in 2020.
- Voters with No Party Preference number 4,890,230 (21.92%), down from 5,038,390 (23.72%) in 2020.
- The American Independent Party has seen an increase to 861,468 registered voters (3.86%) from 616,584 (2.90%) in 2020.
- The Green Party's numbers have risen slightly to 105,610 registered voters (0.47%) from 81,305 (0.38%) in 2020.
- Libertarian registrations have increased to 236,071 voters (1.06%) from 184,838 (0.87%) in 2020.
- Peace and Freedom Party registrations are up to 142,311 voters (0.64%) from 99,983 (0.47%) in 2020.
- Unknown/Other categories have increased slightly to a total of 260691 voters(1..17% )from227483(1..07%)
