Congressman Brad Sherman critiques Trump's air traffic control buyout plan

Congressman Brad Sherman, who has represented California's 32nd District since 1997, recently shared his thoughts on various issues via social media. Born in Los Angeles and a graduate of UCLA and Harvard University, Sherman addressed topics ranging from personal condolences to critical assessments of governmental policies.

On January 30, 2025, Congressman Sherman expressed his sympathy for victims affected by a recent tragedy. He stated: "My heart goes out to all the victims and their loved ones of such a horrendous tragedy."

Later that day, Sherman commented on former President Trump's buyout plan for air traffic controllers. He tweeted: "(1/3) Trump’s buyout plan will increase the already severe shortage of air traffic controllers. Any controller planning to retire this year might as well quit on February 1, and still get all the pay and benefits."

Continuing his critique, he highlighted potential loopholes in the system that could lead to financial inefficiencies. In another tweet, he remarked: "(3/3) So apparently under this system an air traffic controller can draw a salary from the FAA, work for the private contractor, and then return to the FAA in October having earned double pay for eight months.
