The NFIB California Main Street Minute for March 3-7 provides updates on small business advocacy efforts in Sacramento. Last week, a conference call hosted by NFIB included officials from the Governor’s Office of the Small Business Advocate and Los Angeles County BizFed to inform members affected by wildfires about available rebuilding resources. Governor Gavin Newsom also announced additional support for L.A. County.

In political news, Stan Ellis appears to have secured enough votes to win a seat in the State Assembly for District 32 without requiring a runoff. Tony Strickland leads narrowly in Senate District 36. Both elections do not alter party numbers in their respective chambers.

Tim Taylor, NFIB's legislative and policy director, will be delivering letters to lawmakers congratulating them on their elections and highlighting small business concerns.

The California Tax Foundation released its seventh edition of "California Tax Facts," detailing the state's tax structure.

Uber has highlighted issues with California insurance regulations through an advertisement, noting that state-required insurance costs significantly impact ride fares.

On a national level, FinCEN will delay enforcement actions related to Beneficial Ownership Information reports until new deadlines are established. The NFIB has urged lawmakers to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent and praised recent legislative actions repealing certain EPA rules and gas appliance restrictions. Beth Milito from NFIB testified before Congress on workforce challenges.

The next Main Street Minute is scheduled for March 10.
