Representative Norma Torres, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 35th district since 2015, shared a series of tweets expressing her views on various issues. Born in Escuintla, Guatemala, and currently residing in Pomona, Torres has a background in public service that includes terms in the California State Assembly and Senate.

On March 13, 2025, Torres expressed her sorrow over the death of Congressman Raúl Grijalva. She reflected on their time together on the Natural Resources Committee and highlighted his commitment to environmental protection and advocacy for marginalized communities. "I’m deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and colleague, Congressman Raúl Grijalva."

The following day, March 14, 2025, Torres addressed concerns regarding a deal involving Louis DeJoy and DOGE that she believes could lead to the privatization of the Postal Service. She emphasized the potential impact on millions who depend on USPS for essential services like medications and Social Security checks. "Louis DeJoy just admitted to a deal handing over the Postal Service to DOGE—a dangerous step toward privatization."

Later that same day, Torres participated in an event at CSUSB’s Leonard Transportation Center. She discussed transit-oriented housing as a means to reduce traffic and emissions while improving job access. As an appropriator for Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD), she is advocating for funding to support these initiatives. "Honored to join CSUSB’s Leonard Transportation Center for the Transportation Leadership Forum!"
