A Burbank restaurant is defying orders to stay closed due to the pandemic.
Tinhorn Flats, a restaurant that mimics Old West saloons, is opposing Burbank officials with regard to COVID-19 restrictions which include a ban on in-person dining. The restaurant’s owner, Lucas Lepejian, said that he will still welcome patrons inside his place of business and let them eat despite the danger of spreading the coronavirus.
His decision to defy Burbank officials earned him a cancellation of his permit to operate a restaurant, which the officials voted unanimously on. But despite the order to halt operations, Lepejian decided to defy that order as well and reopened his restaurant.
Lepejian criticized the officials saying that they never gave him the chance to explain himself. He said that the officials were not supportive of small businesses and that they were too afraid of the pandemic so that they prefer to close every shop or restaurant in Burbank.
He said, “This is all about fear and control, and not supporting of small businesses. They’re just trying to make a complete example out of us.”
