The University of California, Davis, through its Cal Aggie Alumni Association (CAAA), has announced the recipients of the 2025 Alumni Awards. These awards recognize alumni and friends who have significantly impacted their communities and the university.
This year's honorees are recognized for their contributions to innovation, equity, and advancements in science, technology, and veterinary care. They also provide mentorship and resources to support student success at UC Davis.
The CAAA represents a global network of over 314,000 Aggies. The awardees include Michael P. Coffey ’84 with the Aggie Service Award; Debby Stegura ’79 with the Jerry W. Fielder Award; DeWayne Quinn ’92 with the Outstanding Alumni Award; Charles Melton ’08 with the Young Alumni Award; Douglas R. Mader ’79, M.S. ’82, D.V.M. ’86, Residency ’88 with the Lifetime Achievement Award; and Roy J. Shlemon as Distinguished Friend of the University.
“These remarkable individuals exemplify the spirit of UC Davis — bold, compassionate and driven by a desire to make a difference,” said Dana Allen, assistant vice chancellor and executive director of CAAA. “Their achievements inspire our Aggie community and serve as a powerful reminder of what’s possible when passion meets purpose.”
The awards will be presented at "The Aggies," the 52nd Alumni Awards gala at UC Davis's Walter A. Buehler Alumni Center on May 1.
Michael P. Coffey is recognized for his dedication to UC Davis students' success during his career at AT&T where he played a significant role in recruitment programs for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Debby Stegura is honored for her long-term leadership roles within CAAA and her advocacy for first-generation college students through various endowments supporting scholarships and student retention.
DeWayne Quinn is acknowledged for his leadership in STEM education beyond UC Davis after retiring from Apple where he contributed to major technological solutions.
Charles Melton receives recognition for his efforts in public policy advocacy and strengthening alumni engagement within CAAA as its youngest president.
Douglas R. Mader is celebrated for his contributions to veterinary medicine as an expert in exotic animal care while mentoring future veterinarians at UC Davis.
Roy J. Shlemon is noted for advancing applied geosciences through philanthropy that supports research addressing environmental challenges such as natural disasters.
