Mike Gatto, a former Assemblymember, said that recent developments in the case haven't changed anything significantly, and despite a variety of clues explored in his book, the mystery remains unresolved with no substantial progress. Gatto was a guest on a recent episode of the Next Round Podcast.

"In terms of recent developments, the sad thing is, there really haven't been any that change anything," said Gatto on the Next Round Podcast hosted by the Pacific Research Institute think tank. “We still have a very mixed, strange assortment of clues, all of which I go over in the book. We have this weird profile of maybe a kid, maybe from the neighborhood, probably high on drugs, maybe looking for a fix, my dad the victim of bad luck.”

“We have some other theory that maybe this was somebody who my dad knew, possibly somebody who was very elderly like my dad, which is interesting and intriguing; possibly there's something more to it, possibly this is something much more vastly complex,” Gatto said. “But there have not been any new developments. That's another thing that I talk about in the case: there's just so much time you can't wait to see what's going on. It's been way too long, it's been way too long, it's been way too long."

Gatto, a former Assemblymember, chaired the Appropriations Committee. Following his father's unsolved murder, he explored crime investigations, law enforcement, and politics in Los Angeles.
