The California State Board of Food and Agriculture is set to receive updates on two significant initiatives at its upcoming meeting on March 4, 2025. The board will discuss the statewide restricted material pesticide application notification system, known as SprayDays California, and the ongoing efforts of the California Agricultural Land Equity Task Force.

The meeting will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the California Department of Food and Agriculture in Sacramento. For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will also be accessible via Zoom.

"California continues to lead the way in providing transparency within our food system," said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. She emphasized the role of California farmers and ranchers in delivering healthy and safe food.

SprayDays California, developed by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR), is expected to launch in late March. The system aims to inform the public about restricted material pesticide applications in agriculture. The board will hear an overview from DPR representatives and invite public comments.

Additionally, the board will receive updates from the California Agricultural Land Equity Task Force. Established by the California Budget Act of 2022, this task force is working on recommendations to increase access to agricultural land for food production and traditional tribal uses.

President Don Cameron of the State Board remarked on the challenges faced by growers due to increasing standards and requirements but highlighted their continued commitment to meeting consumer expectations.

The State Board advises both the governor and CDFA secretary on agricultural issues and conducts forums for discussion among government officials, agricultural representatives, and citizens.
