The University of California, Davis, is set to host its second annual Remembrance Ceremony on May 19, from noon to 1 p.m., at the UC Davis Conference Center Ballrooms. The event is intended to honor students, faculty, and staff who have passed away over the past year.
The ceremony will provide a reflective space for the university's extended community, including friends and family members of the deceased. It will feature a brief introduction from Chancellor Gary S. May, musical performances, and a reading of names.
Details about the event, including a full list of the individuals being remembered and a link to register, can be found on the event's webpage. While tickets are not required, guests are strongly encouraged to register to assist in planning.
Those aware of any current student, faculty member, emeriti faculty member, or staff member from UC Davis or UC Davis Health who passed away between May 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025, and whose name is not included on the event page, are advised to reach out to Human Resources.
Retired staff, former students, alumni, volunteers, and donors will not be formally included in the ceremony to keep the event manageable. Deaths of former employees should be reported to the Retiree Center, while deaths of alumni and donors should be sent to Alumni and Affiliate Relations.
Some families have requested that their loved ones not be included, and those names will not appear on the website or be read during the event.
The Aggie Mental Health Ambassadors will host a ribbon activity following the program to offer guests a moment for quiet reflection.
