Rep. Norma Torres, currently serving California's 35th district in the U.S. Congress, frequently updates her constituents on her activities and initiatives. Her tweets provide insight into her involvement in local and international matters, community services, and personal inspirations.

On April 20, Torres shared that she hosted a roundtable event focusing on planning for the 2028 LA Olympics and other significant global events in Southern California. She emphasized the importance of these events stating, "These events are exciting—but they’re also a test of how well we can deliver for the people we serve."

Later the same day, April 20, Torres announced a community outreach program highlighting her team's efforts to assist residents with travel documentation needs. She mentioned the hosting of a Passport Photo Workshop aimed to ease passport acquisition, as indicated in her tweet: "This week, my team and I hosted a Passport Photo Workshop to help CA-35 residents get one step closer to their travel plans."

In another update on April 21, Torres expressed her appreciation for a portrait she received of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, painted by artist Elisa Arancibia. The congresswoman described Ginsburg as a role model, asserting, "RBG was a trailblazer for justice and equality—her legacy inspires me every day to keep fighting for fairness and the rights of all people."

Torres was born in 1965 in Escuintla, Guatemala, and she has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2015. Additionally, she has a background in education, having graduated with a BA from the National Labor College. Torres’s political career includes service in the California State Assembly and Senate before her tenure in Congress.
