Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters has been put in the spotlight for cheering on Black Lives Matter protests yet condemning U.S. Capitol protests.

In a tweet dated Jun. 6, 2020, the California representative clearly states her position on the BLM protests,

“I am so proud of these young people… I see the real coming together of particularly young people around the world,” she wrote, supporting the protests that occurred after the murder of George Floyd.

In another tweet, she supported Breonna Taylor protests.

“As the world focuses on protests & unites in the denouncement of the killings of unarmed black people, #BreonnaTaylor is not forgotten. Had she lived, she would’ve been 27 yrs old today. Breonna, your death was not in vain. We are fighting for you,” read her tweet.

Waters has however been blamed for showing double standards following her condemnation of the U.S Capitol protests. She was sarcastic calling out the Republican players, the Proud Boys.

“What would have happened if Black Lives Matter resorted to the kind of violence the proud boys, the kkk, the oath keepers, the white suprematists carried out today on our Capitol?” Waters said in a tweet posted on Jan. 7.

“Our US Capitol was attacked by Trump domestic terrorists and thugs. They were here at the invitation of Trump. They want to void the people's vote. Biden & Harris will be sworn in Jan 20 like it or not!” she said in a separate tweet.

Waters even demanded investigations into the protests.

“Yes! We must investigate the security breach at the Capitol today. I warned our Caucus and had an hour long conversation with the Chief of Police 4 days ago. He assured me the terrorists would not be allowed on the plaza & Capitol secured…” she tweeted.

Democrats are not being spared following their comments against Trump supporters and the Capitol breach.
