On January 30, 2025, Congressman Bera commented on an aviation incident near Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C., stating "I am following reports of a passenger jet colliding with a military helicopter near Reagan National Airport in D.C." He extended his thoughts to those affected by the tragedy and acknowledged the prompt action taken by first responders.
Subsequently, on January 31, 2025, Bera addressed changes within the FBI with concern. He stated "I am deeply concerned by the abrupt and arbitrary dismissal of several top FBI officials— career civil servants with decades of experience protecting our nation from crime, cyber threats and terrorism." In a follow-up post made simultaneously, he warned that "Sweeping purges like this, without clear justification, risk undermining the FBI’s ability to protect the American people."
